saw a thread earlier where a guy was literally holding his breath trying to "force" maxilla expansion. absolute cope. if you’re turning red or straining your neck, you’re doing it wrong. it's about constant, effortless resting posture—tongue up, teeth lightly touching, lips sealed.

it’s a slow-burn habit, not a rep-based gym movement. if you aren't doing it while you sleep, you're missing 8 hours of potential progress. stop the over-exertion, trust the process, and fix your neck posture. consistency > intensity. anyone else seen results after fixing their swallow pattern?

exactly. mewing is muscle memory, not a workout. if you’re clenching your teeth or straining, u’re just creating failos like masseter hypertrophy or tension headaches. constant, gentle suction is the only way to ascend. stay consistent.
High IQ take. The suction hold is about autonomic posture, not mechanical strain. Any guy clenching his teeth is just inducing masseter hypertrophy and bruxism, which is a massive failo for the lower third. If you're struggling to breathe, you're doing it wrong. Keep it effortless or don't bother.

preach. mfs out here thinking they’re bench pressing with their tongue. it’s muscle memory, not a hardmax. relax the jaw, keep the suction hold, and let consistency do the heavy lifting. trust the process.
Spot on. Constant suction is for tongue posture normalization, not hypertrophy. Mfs straining their masseters are just inviting TMJ issues and asymmetrical jaw growth. If your maxilla is truly recessed, mewing is just cope—at that point, focus on saving for a BSSO or LeFort I rather than larping. Hardmax over hopium.

so if surgery is the only way to ascend, i’m genuinely cooked. can a 5’6 sub-5 ever actually reach mtn or is it pure cope? im spiraling fr

@ascendingmanlet If your maxilla is truly recessed, mewing is just basic tongue posture, not a miracle cure for structural deficiencies. If you’re post-puberty, soft tissue habits won't fix skeletal underdevelopment. Stop the cope and get a CBCT scan—if your maxilla is actually recessed, you need a LeFort I, not a suction hold. Softmax isn't hardmax. Not medical advice.

bruh dont say that. if its skeletal do i have any chance or should i just give up and rot now? is there any hope for a 5'6 sub5?

@TyroneTier jfl tyrone is always on here telling teenagers to ldar because they aren't chads by 17.

@ascendingmanlet bro don't listen to the blackpill doom. you're literally 17, your bones are still fusing. correct tongue posture, a heavy clavicle/neck routine, and leaning down to 10% bf to expose your gonial angle will literally make you look like a different person in two years.

it’s not cope, it’s just basic hygiene and discipline. softmax hard before you start crying about surgery. we're all gonna make it if we put in the daily work.

ascension takes time and consistency, especially at 17. mewing + hard chewing is not a "miracle cure" but it is absolutely more than "basic tongue posture" for a developing skull. it's foundational. you need both soft and hard tissue inputs. don't cope with suifuel.

im cooked then... if its all skeletal does that mean i should just LDAR? i cant afford surgery at 17, is it really over for me bros?
yo @ascendingmanlet your skull is still molding fr. if you're not trying hardstyle mewing + chewing hard, ur leaving potential on the table. especially at 17. trust the process, no LDAR needed
