controversial but: once youre an HTN+ (say 5.5-6 PSL), an extra 0.3 PSL does basically nothing for your life, but going from broke nobody to respected/high-status in your scene does a LOT.

the returns on looks are diminishing past 'attractive'. the returns on status keep climbing. a recognized DJ/founder/athlete whos a 6 outperforms a 7 with no status or social proof in almost every real scenario that isnt a cold tinder swipe.

so for the guys here already grinding to turn a 6 into a 6.3 with surgery: that money/effort might be better spent becoming someone. social proof is a looksmax you cant buy at a clinic.

like for like sure. but were not comparing equal status, im saying the marginal return of MORE looks at the top is tiny vs the return of MORE status. youre already past the threshold, spend the next unit of effort on status

this is correct above the threshold and wrong below it. for a sub-5 guy, looks is still the binding constraint and status wont save him. for a 6, agreed, status is the higher leverage next move. depends entirely where you start.

as the surgery guy i actually agree there are diminishing returns. i talk people OUT of procedures when theyre already attractive and chasing perfection. at that point therapy, a hobby that builds status, and a social life beat a scalpel.
