Most of you greycels treat mewing like a magic spell you cast by pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth while scrolling TikTok. It’s low IQ. If your palate is too narrow, you physically cannot achieve proper tongue posture without compromising your breathing or forcing a tilted neck. You're just wasting time while your maxilla stays recessed and your gonial angle remains invisible.
THE THEORY:
I’m sitting at 5.5 PSL post-rhino and chin filler, but I spent two years fixing my airway before I touched the filler. If your maxilla is recessed, your zygos won't pop regardless of how hard you press your tongue against your teeth.
Am I wrong, or are most of you just coping with tongue placement while your skull remains stagnant? Give me your protocols or tell me why I’m wrong. If you say "just mew bro," dnr.
THE THEORY:
- SUTURE FLEXIBILITY. If you are past 20, you aren't "expanding" your palate with force. You are fighting bone density. Unless you incorporate MSE or proper orthotropic appliances, you are just training your submental muscles, not changing your facial skeleton.
- TONGUE POSITION IS SYMPTOMATIC. The tongue sits where the palate allows. If you have a high-arched, narrow palate, your tongue doesn't actually fit on the roof. Stop forcing it. You need to focus on palatal expansion through hardmax intervention or aggressive myofunctional therapy before you even bother with "mewing" as a permanent state.
- FOLDING VS. POSTURE. A lot of you idiots are just pressing the tip and ignoring the posterior third. That does nothing for the ramus development.
